Dual Z-Axis Wheel Set Handling Truss Manipulator

Date:2026-08-05 Author:Truman Robotics Visit:2223

Railway wheel set is the core heavy-duty component of rail transit vehicles, featuring large volume, heavy weight and high precision assembly requirements. In traditional wheel set production and maintenance workshops, the transfer, loading and unloading of wheel sets mainly rely on manual cooperation with simple cranes, which leads to low handling efficiency, poor positioning accuracy and high safety risks. With the upgrading of railway intelligent manufacturing, the dual Z-axis wheel set handling truss manipulator has become dedicated automated equipment for wheel set production lines, solving the industry pain points of heavy-load handling and high-precision docking in rail transit component processing.

Different from ordinary single-axis truss manipulators, the most innovative feature of the dual Z-axis wheel set handling truss manipulator is its independent dual Z-axis structural design. Equipped with two sets of vertical lifting axes with synchronous or independent control functions, the equipment can perform dual-station collaborative operations. One Z-axis can complete wheel set grabbing and feeding, while the other realizes finished product unloading and stacking, realizing alternate cyclic handling. This unique structural design doubles the working efficiency compared with traditional single Z-axis truss equipment, perfectly adapting to the high-beat production demand of modern wheel set processing lines.

Heavy load resistance and high structural stability are the core advantages of this professional wheel set handling equipment. The overall gantry truss adopts high-strength industrial steel welding structure, with strong rigidity and small deformation, which can stably bear the heavy load of railway wheel sets. The dual Z-axis vertical lifting mechanism is equipped with precision servo drive and anti-deflection guide structure, ensuring no shaking or offset during high-speed lifting and horizontal movement. It maintains millimeter-level repeated positioning accuracy, effectively meeting the high-precision docking requirements of wheel set assembly, turning and detection processes.

In terms of industrial application, the wheel set truss manipulator realizes full-process unmanned operation for wheel set production. It can automatically grab raw wheel blanks from the material rack, accurately transport them to CNC lathes, detection stations and finishing processing stations, and automatically stack finished wheel sets on designated pallets. The whole handling process does not require manual intervention, completely replacing traditional crane handling and manual auxiliary positioning methods. It effectively eliminates safety hazards such as heavy object collision and extrusion in wheel set workshops, and standardizes the heavy-load production process of rail transit components.

Intelligent synchronous control and flexible adaptability further improve the practical value of the dual Z-axis truss manipulator. The dual Z-axis system supports independent operation and synchronous linkage switching, which can flexibly cope with single-piece processing and batch cyclic production modes. Matched with customized anti-slip heavy-duty grippers, the equipment stably clamps wheel sets of different specifications without slipping or scratching the workpiece surface. It can be seamlessly connected with production line conveyor systems and industrial control platforms to realize automatic scheduling, data recording and production traceability.
